The Him Jyoti School

The Him Jyoti School, Dehradun, which was placed first by the Education World India School Rankings in 2024–2025 under the category of 'philanthropic schools', works relentlessly towards empowering girls from economically weak sections in the remote areas of Uttarakhand. The school nurtures their potential as valuable contributors to their communities.

Him Jyoti’s sprawling campus offers excellent facilities for the boarding school, which has over the years made its mark in academics, sports and other extracurricular activities. The Dayal Trust currently sponsors 20 students from Classes V to XII, and was proud when Khushi Nath, a Dayal scholar and prize-winning debater, was appointed head girl of the school for 2024–25. Other Dayal scholars have excelled in fields as varied as quizzing and essay writing (Yogita Jeena), football and athletics, and have even marched in the Republic Day parade down Kartavya Path in Delhi (Geeta Koranga). Another Dayal scholar, Pooja Dangwal, was honoured at the Toppers’ Conclave 2023–24 for not only her exceptional academic performance but her gifts for basketball and dance. Jyotsana Pant and Babita are also award-winning debaters.

Class XII students from Him Jyoti have been admitted into prestigious universities. Of the Dayal scholars in the 2024 batch, Tanuja Sati won a full scholarship to study at Asim Premji University, Bengaluru, while Jyoti Koranga, Jyoti Mehta and Kajal won full scholarships to BML Munjal University, Haryana. Earlier Dayal scholars have similarly done the Trust proud by enrolling at Ashoka University in Haryana, MS University in Vadodara, the Regional Institute of Education in Ajmer, and various renowned colleges of Delhi University, amongst others.

When required, the Dayal Trust funds the college education of each of its Him Jyoti scholars. These girls are sponsored until graduation, or up to the time they complete a post-graduate or professional course of their choice. The Trust’s sponsorship is also extended to cover assistance for special courses.

Associated with the Dayal Trust since 2007.
